Tips on how to best enjoy your upcoming holiday
Undoubtedly, the world is a different place to what it was last year. But as countries slowly come out of lockdown and something close to ‘normal’ life resumes, international travel is once again a possibility!
Our guest houses are open and cities around Europe are eagerly awaiting visitors! But what should you expect when you travel once again? Should you pack any different, or take any precautions when abroad? Read on for tips on how to best prepare!
What to expect
From the moment you arrive, you should expect to see a number of safety measures nearly everywhere you go. Social distancing, face masks, hand sanitiser and smaller crowds in tourist attractions and restaurants. Airports and train stations are operating as usual, however you may be subject to a temperature check on arrival.
What to pack
While hand sanitiser will be available in public places such as museums, catherdrals and at the reception desk of your guest house, we do recommend packing your own. It would also be advisable to carry a small bottle of it with you when you are out and around to ensure you can clean your hands regularly.
Some monasteries and attractions may also provide face masks, however we do recommend having your own or purchasing some on arrival. Either disposable or reusable masks are appropriate.
Tips on keeping safe and hygienic
The best way to keep safe and hygienic on your trip is no different to what you may already be doing at home – practice social distancing, wash your hands regularly and wear a face mask where required or appropriate. You can rest assured your guest house and all the places you visit will do what they can to create a clean environment for you. When in doubt, ask one of the friendly nuns or monks at your guest house as to what the most appropriate thing to do is. When you’re out and around, see what the locals are doing regarding hygiene and take your cue from them! A few adjustments to your daily routine once you arrive is all it takes to enjoy the wonder of Italy in 2020!
