I really loved this stay, it was immaculate and the ladies at reception were so friendly. I had a single room which was perfect, as it was early September in the heatwave the fan in the room was fine but I wonder if it was July or August heat if it would have been warm in the room. Loved everything about this place, a short walk from Circus Maximus and shorter walk to Palentine Hill. No places to eat close by. I used a Lime Scooter at times or uber. So useful having a washing machine and dryer available, recommend you go with Eu1 and Eu50c coins for this. Breakfast was basic but didn't need much more than a fresh roll, condiments, cereal and coffee. Highly recommended.
Susan - HAMPSHIRE, United Kingdom (September 2023)
The people and environment exceeded expectations! A warm, safe welcoming place to stay. My room has everything that I needed, very comfortable and clean.
Janette - ON, Canada (September 2023)
I had a fantastic time at the monastery. Very welcoming guests. Excellent food. Very peaceful location and facilities. I'll be back!
Olivier - , France (May 2019)
Great location! Walking distance to every place one needs to visit in Rome. If I go to Rome again I will stay in this place. Very simple accommodation but there’s a washer and dryer! Great location for the money!
Agnieszka - MI, United States (June 2018)
Wounderful experience in a quiet and spiritual place. Great location with unbelievable art treasures within walking distance.
Luca - Pavia, Italy (September 2017)
My ten year old daughter and I loved staying at this Monastery. It was very close to all the sights - very close! The sisters were amazing and friendly. We arrived late, and they were so helpful and thoughtful. The breakfast was basic, but perfect for our needs. If I'm in Rome again, I WILL stay at this place, no doubt about it.
Maria - , New Zealand (July 2017)
The sisters were so welcoming and friendly with our group of university students and we loved the quiet location that is still close enough to walk to the centre of the city. It was very hot during our stay with only one room having air-conditioning, so that was a disadvantage, but everything considered we would still choose this location again.
Rachael - NB, United Kingdom (June 2017)
Great stay here in Rome! Excellent location and within easy walking distance to Circus Maximus Metro station. This was a quiet, safe-haven for us in the bustle of Rome. Enjoyed coming back and relaxing mid-day! Great neighborhood with many lesser known sights very close by.
Anthony - MN, United States (March 2017)
I want to thank the sisters in the convent that made my stay there so pleasant. The room was perfect and clean. The most remarkable thing for me was the peace and calm that helped me to disconnect and rest.
Angel Cesar - Madrid, Spain (July 2016)
We used taxi for our arrival, but the metro and buses thereafter. The nuns are welcoming and friendly, the monastery a calm location and the water temp and pressure the best so far on this holiday. Would not hesitate to return and once again be greeted by Sister Vincenza.
Karen - Victoria, Australia (October 2015)
My entire family had positive comments. The sisters were gracious, helpful and made us feel comfortable.
Beverly - FL, USA (May 2015)
I can only recommend it, one of the reason is that the people there are absolutely fantastic, helpful, nice. The place itself is also outstanding, uncomparable with downtown or other places we have been to.
Ivana - Czech Republic, Czech Republic (May 2015)
Very good location in pretty part of Aventine, but very handy for bus and metro. The rooms when i arrived were spotless; comfy bed, plenty of room for clothing.lots of lovely little courtyards and roof-gardens. Next door to the Rome rose-garden.
Delyth - North Yorkshire, United Kingdom (April 2015)
I will be staying with this monastery the next time in Rome, it was perfect for my needs!
Peter - MA, United States (April 2015)
I enjoyed my stay here. The sisters were very nice and hospitable. The facilities were great. Loved my own private room and the garden area to relax in. Breakfast was of good quality as well. Thanks for the great stay!
Jacklyn - CA, United States (April 2015)
Good and friendly and the surrounding is very beautiful.
A M - , Netherlands (September 2014)
It was a lovely retreat from the chaos of the city. The nuns were just beautiful. It would have been nice to have some hot water available in the cafeteria (or rooms) to be able to make tea and coffee. Also, the wifi didn't work in the bedrooms although it was fine in the garden. We had a very pleasant stay.
Kelly - Victoria, Australia (September 2014)
Very pleasant and very helpful even with my lack of ability to speak the language - great location. Walked to the Vatican from there. Enjoyed immensely. Plan to stay there on next visit to Rome. Quiet and peaceful.
Suzanne - Quebec, Canada (September 2014)
It was amazing! So tranquil and beautiful, walking distance from main sires. Nuns were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return!
Michael - Channel Islands, United Kingdom (July 2014)
I can truly recommend to stay in this place. It is very quit, has a nice backyard, the Sisters were very friendly and its not far to the next metro station. Would come again!
Ute - , Germany (July 2014)
Best breakfast! Unbeatable setting, outdoor terrace and garden. A retreat in the city! A delight!
Claire - CO, United States (April 2014)
Bravo Sister Vincenza and all people helping!
Michael - OR, United States (April 2014)
Beautiful place!! It was about a 10 minute walk from the Colosseum, which is great considering the price! Extremely clean, and beautiful gardens that promoted a relaxed atmosphere. The nuns are extremely sweet, and although their English is limited, every need we had was addressed exceptionally with kindness. The rooms were very clean and our room (quadruple) had what they call "fan cooling" which was a treasure to us since Rome is very hot in August. Slept like babies! Breakfast is included and the coffee is delicious, plus they have a vending machine and washer/dryer! I would definitely come back! Great value for our money! The nuns are too sweet!
Maribel - TX, United States (July 2013)
Great location and very helpful staff.
Edward - Kent, United Kingdom (October 2012)
There was a large student group staying there at the same time and they kept us up a couple of nights. Once they left we had the place to ourselves. Great location, 10 mins to Metro B line at Circo Massimo and we could walk to Colleseum. Good restaurants about 10 mins away also and other facilities. Breakfast was very spartan and in fact if this was improved we would definitely recommend.
Peter - Australian Capital Territory, Australia (July 2012)
Excellent value and location.
Group staying were allowed to make too much noise (music) late in the evening - no problem early evening.
Elizabeth - Somerset, United Kingdom (July 2012)
The sisters were extremely sweet, the building was nice and right next to a park and only a 10 minute walk from the metro. We loved our stay and would be more than happy to return!
Meghan - CO, United States (July 2012)
The room was comfortble and clean. I couldn't sleep because i was too hot and really wanted a fan.
The location was superb. It was astounding to be somewhere so tranquil that was so near central Rome. The nun who managed everything spoke no english but we made outselves understood. She was kind and obliging. Apart from being too hot - it was lovely.
Liz - South Yorkshire, United Kingdom (June 2012)
The monastery was a wonderful refuge from the commotion of Rome. We walked from the monastery to all the sights we were interested in, though some days involved quite a bit of walking. It was quite hot while we were there, but we were able to keep the room at a reasonable temperature. The women helping us were wonderful. While one in our group of 4 spoke Italian, we still managed when she was not with us.
Debra - OR, United States (June 2012)
Lovely retreat, extremely friendly people, everything basic but absolutely sufficient, it can get noisy at night but with ear plugs I had no problem at all, nice location next to a rose garden and S. Barabara with a spectacular view on the city and the palatin, walking distance from bus stop and metro (circo massimo) ok.
Cornelia Ulrike - , Germany (June 2012)
Very helpful and accommodating staff.
Michael - British Columbia, Canada (June 2012)
Lovely and in a superb part of Rome. Although to eat you needed to walk 10-15 mins but it's such a lovely area that it was hardly a bother.
Stephanie - London, United Kingdom (May 2012)
John and I had a lovely stay at the monastery. The staff were polite and helpful. Our attic room was spacious and more than adequate. Thank-you.
Margaret - Ontario, Canada (May 2012)
Beautiful residential neighborhood quiet area, you truly feel at peace and does not feel like you are in the hustle of daily life in Rome. Sister Vicenza was very helpful and so was the lady that manned the front desk at the actual place we stayed. Only inconvenient thing is that we had to walk to breakfast every morning since we were staying at another building nearby. Both properties very beautiful and had nice gardens you could relax in after a long day. I also enjoyed petting the hotel cat Teo :) Would definitely stay her again.
Samantha - FL, United States (April 2012)
The representation of this monastery on the web site was true to reality. The staff were lovely, the location outstanding, and the gardens very relaxing. We loved the crusty rolls for breakfast, but would have appreciated some fruit juice and a little more variety - other than that it was a fabulous place to stay!
Denis - Queensland, Australia (September 2011)
Very helpful and obliging staff, despite the language difference - we were able to have an evening meal as well as breakfast a couple of times.
Andrew - Worcestershire, United Kingdom (August 2011)
I will be returning to the Foresteria as soon as I can. It was a haven of tranquility and I left what is a very busy city feeling relaxed and refreshed. The sisters and their lay colleagues made me feel very welcome.
Fiona - London, United Kingdom (July 2011)
The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. I felt safe and the sisters were very helpful.
