With breathtaking views, picturesque scenery and plenty of tourist attractions in the vicinity, this lodging is a great base for your stay.

There is a fantastic old castle in the city, which is still in very good condition and one of the highlights of the city. Moniga del Garda has a port that the ferry service stops at, connecting guests with all corners of the lake, spreading across the three regions that share Lake Garda (Lombardia, Veneto and Trentino Alto-Aldige). The lake can keep everyone busy all year round. Moniga del Garda is near to the 'Isola del Garda', which is an island privately owned by an Italian family. There are boats that make the trip to the island for guided tours of the gardens and the house there. The boats leave from the nearby towns of Barbarano di SalÃ² or Gardone Riviera, and the two hour tours are usually run in three languages - Italian, English and German. A little north of the monastery is the Gardagolf Country Club, with a course that suits both beginners and more advanced players, making it a great choice for anyone looking to play a round while on vacation. Just a short trip south east of the lodging is the town of Sirmione, famous in the area for its shopping, restaurants and bars. At the southern end of the lake, in Veneto, is the family-friendly Gardaland, a large theme park full of rollercoasters and waterslides. This park is the perfect place to entertain children for a day, displaying how good the area is for any type of tourist. The town is also known for hosting two separate festivals during the year, both dedicated to the 'Chiaretto' wine, a variety which was first produced in Moniga del Garda in the late 19th century. 'Palio del Chiaretto' is held in April, while 'Rassegna del Chiaretto' is in July each year.

This was the most relaxing stay of my entire trip to Italy. Franco & Maria are wonderful hosts and have a first class facility. This place is more of a resort than a monestary! It is quiet, off the beaten path and has beautiful grounds. The swimming pool was being fixed during my stay (which was in the off-season). Maria is a WONDERFUL cook and makes a 2-course dinner for 15Euro. I took advantage of it each night I was there. The breakfast is huge and very good. Franco & Maria were very inviting and kind and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The spacious rooms make the stay very comfortable and all the more relaxing, while the views from the guest house to the town and lake below are spectacular.

The dining room at the monastery offers fine Italian fare, and is a great place to spend some time relaxing after a day of touring the area.
