On main island of Venice, Dorsoduro. A canal side 'Fondamenta' with easy access. Vaporetto stops for local and surrounding locations.
A monastic building complex dating to 1694, the building has changed through many hands and performed various services for the community, before it came to be the home of the Canossiane Order from the late 1800's to today including complete restoration in 1999.

We had four wonderful nights at this monastery. The location in the Dorsoduro was excellent, easy to find, away from the tourist crowds but an easy walk to two vaporetto stops and the Accademia Bridge. The room was really large and we asked for a canal view, which was lovely but still quiet at night. The nuns were delightful and despite limited English language, we communicated well.

A great stay in a lovely location . Quiet but within easy reach of more lively areas , I would most certainly recommend the Istituto Canossiano and hope to return myself in future. Thank you.

We did like the facility and of course Venice is beautiful. The check out went great and the nuns were as helpful as they could be considering that we didn't speak Italian. Thank you so much for having us.
Coleen - MD, United States (June 2017)
This is a beautiful and peaceful guesthouse in a wonderful quiet location, that is still easily accessible to all Venice has to offer, without being in the hustle bustle of the tourist area. The building is beautiful and the facilities incredibly clean. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to stay again.
Karen - WA, Australia (September 2016)

A peaceful place where we felt calm at the end of each day. Very clean and well kept. The gentleman on reception really helped us when we needed to arrange to leave very early to catch flight. Excellent location with easy access to public transport.

I liked the building, the courtesy and friendliness of the staff, and its location.
Norman - AZ, United States (June 2016)
having the use of the well equipped kitchen made making drinks and the odd snack very easy and saved money! Also having a very pleasant outside space to sit in was perfect. Very quiet.

I just wanted to say how much my cousin and I enjoyed our stay with you last week. Thank you for a very peaceful time, thank you to the sisters for their smiles and thank you to the lovely gentleman in the office for making our stay special. Hoping to see you again before too long.

Institute Canossiano San Trovaso is in an excellent location for everything we wanted to see and do and convenient to the train station. Dad really enjoyed the experience, which was a relief to me given it was his introduction to Europe.

This is an overdue review, but I always wanted to give a review. I really enjoyed staying at Istituto Canossiano San Trovaso eventhough it was only for a short time. The staff in the office was really nice, took extra mile to help us figuring out the transportation to go to the airport very early in the morning. He made an arrangement for me and my friend for the transport and how to open the emergency door. Highly appreciated. I likedthe room, especially the cleaness. I like the kitchen too. I like the quiteness but still offered the freedom and privacy.
One thing I remembered well was the towel linen they provided in the room as a bath towel. It was a superb idea. I really liked it.

Wonderful- a revelation!
Istituto Canossiano San Trovaso is a delightful, tranquil retreat away from the madding crowds of Venice.
The Sisters and staff were extremely helpful and polite at all times.

Anna - North Yorkshire, United Kingdom (September 2015)
It was fabulous respite from the extraordinarily unique but incredibly heaving crowds of tourists. It was peaceful and tranquil and quiet with a wonderfully serene atmosphere and an absolute delight to return home to after each busy day!
Mark - , New Zealand (July 2015)
The nuns spoke no English but they have two english speaking people in the office sometimes that helped to clear up anything. We tried to pay them for wifi, but they gave the money back. It was a very lovely place to stay. So quiet. We had a perfect stay here.
Carly - South Australia, Australia (January 2015)
This is a great place to stay in a lovely area of Venice. Very close to the Zaterre and the Academia bridge which gives access to the San Marco area. There are two Vapotetto stops within a few minutes walk.
Our room was large with ensuite shower room and overlooked a nice courtyard. It was cleaned and towels changed daily. The convent is used as accommodation for students as well as tourists. It was very quiet at night so we had a great night's sleep after sight-seeing. Breakfast isn't included here but there is a kitchen for guests and several cafés and bars very nearby.
Richard - Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (May 2014)
My stay was delightful, better than expected. My main concern when I made the booking was only having a fan to cool my room - and the weather was hot. But I was comfortable and slept well through the night. The staff were gracious and worked with me when any question came up.
Emily - MD, United States (September 2013)
Delightful. They sisters were very helpful and kind.

The perfect stay for a solo female traveller. I felt very welcome and safe. The room was spotless, the perfect size for one person with all the facilities one could want. The location was perfect, a stones throw from lovely restaurants, bars and cafes. I would highly recommend especially for singles who want somewhere simple, clean, quiet and peaceful to rest their head after a long day of exploring the beautiful city. Looking forward to my next stay!
Caitlin - Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (September 2012)
A lovely, peaceful convent in a great location: close to several vaporetto stops, a traghetto, and only a couple of minutes away from the Accademia. The nuns and staff were very helpful and welcoming, and my room and bathroom were perfectly clean, with a high ceilings and a big window overlooking the cloisters. Mattresses and pillows were quite hard, but this seems to be standard in this kind of accommodation, and certainly didn't affect my sleep. The availability of a kitchen for guests to use was an excellent extra, and while I didn't use it, tea and fresh coffee (with stovetop moka makers) seemed to be there for general use. The temperature was in the low 30s when I visited, and the pedestal fan supplied did keep the room reasonably cool, but any hotter and I suspect you'd be feeling the lack of air conditioning. Overall, I loved my stay here - coming back at the end of a hot, busy day felt like returning to a real oasis.
Aimee - London, United Kingdom (June 2012)
It was very pleasant and people are very nice.
Sophie - , France (April 2012)
Beautiful venue located just off the Academia bridge, very quiet at night for a wonderful nights sleep and wake to the sound of the church bells ringing across Venice. The rooms are of the highest quality and the beds very comfortable. From here you can easily walk to all the sites around Venice or catch the vaporetto for a couple of euro.
Helen - South Australia, Australia (March 2012)
Everything was just so perfect (and the Billa shop nearby is so convenient!). I really enjoyed my stay there and wish I could have stayed longer.
Frederique - , France (June 2011)
I recommend this excellent place.
Helene - Quebec, Canada (May 2011)
Excellent accommodations and location. The sisters were very nice as were the young people working there. The low cost wifi was a plus. Marco was very helpful and spoke enough English to assist.
Margaret - FL, United States (April 2011)
It was like a sanctuary. Loved the quiet, the enclosed courtyards. And the other customers there - Would have preferred breakfast provided, but we got around that.
Ann - Victoria, Australia (May 2010)
The room was more modern and comfortable than I expected. Comfortable bed, recently remodeled bathroom and for the times I was in the room, the windows opened onto a beautiful courtyard. The location was very convenient to transportation.
The fan provided in the room kept the temperature quite pleasant. Had it been hotter, the lack of air conditioning could have been uncomfortable. I will stay there again.
