The most fascinating site in Orvieto is its underground city, open to the public for guided tours. This labyrinth of passages, stairs, rooms, cellars and wells was used by noble families to siege's many years ago. It took some 2500 years of digging to complete the amazing tunnels.

Beautiful view of Orvieto from the window. Good place to watch the sunset and the stars were bright. The staff was kind and helped us with travel info to Assisi. The air conditioning didn’t work in one of our rooms but the August night cooled down and was fine. I opened the window and hoped birds or bats wouldn’t fly in. |

The nun who greeted us and helped us was very charming and helpful. I found a private parking very secure and breakfast more than adequate. I will stay there again and I highly recommend this monastery. |
