This antique lodging is one of the best offerings on the island. The staff are warm and friendly, and the location makes it ideal for tourists as well as those seeking a spiritual retreat.

Close to the venue is the Monreale Cathedral - one of Sicily's finest architectural displays. It has been immaculately maintained and boasts stunning 12th century detail both inside and out.

The venue itself overlooks La Conca d'Oro (the Golden Shell), a fertile valley famous for its orange, olive and almond trees.

Rooms were not serviced during our stay. That said, the nun in charge was very pleasant and helpful, although we were very lucky to have my Italian-speaking brother with us, as she had no English. The swimming pool was a Godsend!
