A wonderful choice to stay in Loreto, and a great way to experience authentic Monastery Stays in one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the world. Guests can expect simple and familiar hospitality.
The town of Loreto is near the east coast of Italy, and is a popular Catholic pilgrimage site. Loreto is surrounded by a large wall, erected in the 16th century as a defence for the city. The main piazza in the town (Piazza della Madonna) is surrounded by the main sights of the city, making sightseeing easy.
There is a Jesuit College, as well as the the Palazzo Comunale and the Santuario della Santa Casa (Shrine of the Holy House).
The Palazzo Comunale contains a wonderful art gallery, with paintings dating back to the 16th Century, as well as a large collection of "Maiolica", which is a form of Italian pottery originating over 400 years ago.
The Santuario della Santa Casa is the popular Catholic pilgrimage, and the main tourist attraction in Loreto. The church was erected in the late 16th Century, under Pope Sixtus V, while the shrine is the sight that many Catholics visit each year. The shrine contains an image of the Black Madonna.
Rated 4.4 out of 5
The location in Loreto is very good; easy to walk to the Piazza and to local food shops. Loreto is a short drive from the coast and beaches. The sisters don't speak English, but there was a staff person there during the day who did speak English. Getting in and out of the secure parking area with our car was somewhat complicated - it involved locating a sister to operate the remote control gate. The breakfast was not cooked - just packaged bread, jam, and coffee in a thermos bottle. Our room was quiet and spacious, but no air conditioning and no screen on the window. It was cool enough at night, but some mosquitoes came in.
This monastery is operated by the Suore Orsoline di Gesu.
Typical of the area, the grounds provide good views towards the mountains (to the west) and the Adriatic Sea (to the east).
Breakfast is included in the price. Lunch available on request. Dinner available only to groups.

The sisters are very friendly and the food was very very very good (the customer gives not 10 but 50 points :-)
The points, that the customer gives are of course for accomodation in monasatery stay, not in hotel with 5 stars. The customer is very glad. Thank you very much.
