This monastery is operated by the Padre Semeria.

This beautiful old lodging is surrounded by lush greenery, immersing guests in the peaceful natural environment of the Cinque Terre area. Gorgeous views of the Ligurian Sea are perfect for guests to enjoy no matter what time of year they choose to travel.

Mass is held on weekdays at 4:30pm.

Breakfast is not included in the price.

Features

The guest house terrace is a perfect vantage point from which guests can indulge in the surrounding views of the Mediterranean sea and the town below. Guests can also access a nearby private beach at a discounted price during their stay.

Getting Around

Located in the coastal town of Monterosso al Mare, in the Cinque Terre area of Liguria. Close to the village, on a hill overlooking the coast with walking path and road access. Well located for walking to the beach and the Monterosso al Mare town center. Public transport to central and surrounding locations is also nearby.  

History

This lodging was founded in 1924 by Padre Giovanni Semeria.

	The facilities were a surprise to our family. Though the site is old, the building was brand new! We had a beautiful view from our simple, but well furnished rooms. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, with juice and water, fruit and cookies - perfect after a long train trip. The breakfast was also simple, but adequate for our needs. When it came time to leave, the manager called a cab and negotiated a good price to haul me and our baggage to the train station. The location of the Istituto is a bit far from town, but the view makes up for the walk. Definitely need to take a cab or have a hauler bring luggage up the hill!

	Highly recommend staying at the Monastery. The room was large, and clean with a beautiful view of the sea and mountains. The Monastery is located in a very peaceful area, with fragrant flowers in the garden and it was great waking up to the sound of birds in the morning. Be prepared to walk from the main street to the Monastery by climbing up 160 steps and a slight incline of about 100 yards as the Monastery is located on a hill. Marco gave us a warm welcome upon our arrival. He was extremely helpful by providing us maps, and information about places to see and eat in Cinque Terre.

	An excllent location. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The room was very clean, newly renovated with a modern bathroom. Excellent balcony and view of the ocean, with the sweet fragrance of flowers. Quiet and restful. Comfortable beds. We expecially enjoyed the fridge - we were able to buy some groceries and eat from our room. The person who checked us in was friendly, helpul and efficient. While the location is excellent, you may want to consider a taxi from the train station if you have luggage - it is a bit of a climb.
