Calm and quiet. Good access to the Vatican and a nearby metro station. Lovely breakfast and safe area.
Georgiana - NSW, Australia (June 2024)
Villino Noel is in an excellent position. The grey iron gate behind the small petrol station was a door to paradise. There was a table & chairs where we sat and ate lunch or dinner. Next door was a supermarket and a large market across the road.
Leith - QLD, Australia (June 2024)
The location is ideal. The chapel facility lovely. The nuns helpful and charming. Our fourth stay and we intend returning again should we return to Rome.
Thank you for a lovely stay sisters.
Thomas - Western Province, South Africa (June 2024)
Welcoming, clean, and quiet, in a safe location, and close walking distance to the Vatican.
Colleen - VIC, Australia (May 2024)
This was also another lovely accommodation. The nuns were wonderful, the place was clean, safe and friendly. Just a 10 minute walk to the Sistine Chapel and Vatican City. Easy as pie to get to. Would love to come and stay here again.
Deborah - BC, Canada (October 2022)
It was a very convenient place to stay, very much in proximity and walking distance to the Vatican which was the only purpose of my trip to Rome. The nuns were very helpful and provided information as needed. The place was so quiet and conducive for reflection and personal meditation;the chapel was always open and accessible to visitors. I would like to come back for a longer stay when I visit Rome the next time. Thank so much!
Danilo - MI, United States (October 2022)
It was wonderful, so peaceful and calming; a place to reflect. The Sisters were extremely welcoming. A place of prayer.
Vivienne - HAMPSHIRE, United Kingdom (June 2022)
Villino Noel is a lovely, quiet convent only a few blocks from entry to the Vatican Museums. The sisters were delightful and helpful. The included breakfast, just around the corner at a cafe, was a typical Italian breakfast - cappuccino and a delicious pastry.
Sharon - ID, United States (May 2022)
Lovely stay, perfect location for Vatican visits, very clean, comfortable, and safe. It can be hard to find when you don't know what to look for. But when you do make your way in, it's a fantastic visit.
Justin - NH, United States (October 2019)
The sisters were very friendly. There was limited common language between us- we knew a little Italian, they knew a little English. Even so it worked out just fine. The cafe staff next door were very nice and it also helped to have a Coop next door as well.
The place was pristine as far as quality of room and cleanliness.
I would stay here again without hesitation.
Susan - IL, United States (July 2019)
It all went smoothly, even eating at the cafe next door for breakfast (my wife said it was the best coffee she had in Rome).
Joseph - NJ, United States (May 2019)
We really enjoyed our stay at Villino Noel. The room was simply furnished yet functional. The Casa was exceptionally clean with the beds made each morning and the linen changed every second day. The building is set back from the street allowing for a simple garden/ courtyard and quiet at night. The Sisters always wore a smile and were helpful with our questions. Breakfast (included) every morning at the cafe up the street worked well. Area is pleasant to walk in and has plenty of good restaurants including a large indoor market.
Steven - ON, Canada (May 2019)
Lovely environment and the sisters are most cordial, welcoming and helpful. The only drawback I found is that the rooms while very clean are rather small.
Robert - NC, United States (May 2019)
Lovely tranquil setting in very convenient location. Nuns were so helpful making me feel like family. The rooms are clean and simple. All and all--a true jewel that I would return to my next visit.
Anne - AZ, United States (April 2019)
Truly delightful! Great location! We appreciated the quiet space although the street in front was quite busy with an active bar nearby. The room was comfortable. Sisters were very sweet and extremely helpful. We were so excited to receive tickets from them for St. Peters for Easter Sunday morning and even got to see the Pope! Only a few blocks from the Vatican and near to metro.
Sarah - VA, United States (April 2019)
The sisters were so kind and the facilities were immaculate and quiet. The only downside are the beds, which are hard. The location is great because you can easily get around the city with buses and metro, there are affordable and good restaurants near, it feels safe, and you can walk to Vatican city. Another nice feature is the Mercato Trionfale across the street. We purchased food there and ate in the Casa's courtyard. The Casa also has an arrangement with the Cafe Gourmet next door for breakfast--which serves delicious homemade pastries.
Heather - CA, United States (October 2018)
Sister Eliana was very helpful. The breakfast option at the cafe is really nice. We enjoyed our stay here. They even have audience with the pope tickets for guests.
Meneses - , Singapore (October 2016)
My stay was delightful:it was clean, quiet and comfortable, and very conveniently near the Vatican Museums and the Cipro Metro stop.
The only difficulty I had was that the sister who received me did not tell me that one of the others sisters spoke English. My Italian is very weak. However, we managed. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to friends.
Super location near Vatican and St. Peter Cafedral, many places to eat nearby, quiet district. Clean room. Sisters provide a keys from gates and front door, so no time restriction to come back at the evening.
Ekaterina - , Russia (January 2016)
It was a little difficult to locate on Google Maps; it is located in the center of the block and there is a gate with an intercom along the sidewalk. The room was therefore very quiet for a city. The location was excellent as it was far enough from the crowded areas to be quiet but in easy walking distance to St Peter's down Via Leone IV and only a few blocks to either Cipro or Ottaviano Metro stations. It was very clean. Tickets to the Papal Mass and Audience were available on the table. The nuns are able to arrange transportation to the airport if one notifies them the night before departure.
Joseph - OH, United States (December 2015)
This was my first time staying in a monastery. It was a wonderful experience. Wish I had planned to stay in more monasteries during my trip. It was clean, felt safe and in a good location.
Ann - CO, United States (November 2015)
It was very easy to get to with public transportation, and it was on a very busy, main road which was good for a single female like myself. It was within walking distance to the Vatican which was also great. The lady who greeted did not speak anything but Italian. She was also a sister - so sweet! The place was very clean and humble. They even gave me a ticket for a free breakfast just a couple stores down, and it was delicious!
Brittney - IL, United States (October 2015)
Loved it here and the sisters were very hospitable and accommodating. The pastries at the cafe next door were wonderful. Would definitely stay again.
Patricia - MN, United States (October 2015)
Excellent, clean, safe, conveniently located accommodation. Nuns do not have much English language but we could manage.
Pauline - Victoria, Australia (September 2015)
Great location. Very close to Vatican. Limited air conditioning.
Debra - Ontario, Canada (June 2015)
The location is perfect walking distance to the Metro, Vatican museum, St Peter square, other areas of interest. Lots of cafe and ethnic restaurants nearby. The big plus is the super market next door! Laundromat is also walking distance. The air-conditioning is scheduled automatically in the afternoon and at certain times at night. Overall, we would go back to this location. It's safe and the sisters are so welcoming.
Jocelyn - British Columbia, Canada (June 2015)
Wonderful stay; Sister was very helpful.
Mary Ellen - WV, United States (May 2015)
Sisters were friendly and helpful. We have never seen a cleaner room. Easy and secure access with their key system.
Stephanie - Ontario, Canada (May 2015)
Very clean, very good location.
Josephine - CA, United States (May 2015)
Staff were warm, friendly and helpful and patient with us having no Italian.
Close to transport, laundromat and a range of restaurants. The Supermarket a few doors away was terrific.
Richard - South Australia, Australia (April 2015)
Fantastic location, lovely staff.
Simone - New South Wales, Australia (April 2015)
We enjoyed our stay very much. The nuns were very helpful and friendly. It was a nice area to stay in with plenty of buses or trains on the metro. Everything was handy. We enjoyed our breakfast at the cafe next door which was included in the price. We also used the cafe occasionally for other meals.
Brendan - , United Kingdom (April 2015)
Absolutely excellent: delightful nuns, excellent location for closeness to Vatican but also near to public transport and local shops including Coop to buy food for lunch so don't always need to go to restaurants; also excellent location for good value restaurants in Prati.
Great food at the cafe next door: we often supplemented the breakfast with a bit extra, which of course we paid for. Even the free bit of breakfast (coffee and a pastry) is a lot better than the breakfasts I have had at other monasteries: I don't mind that, but my husband who is not a catholic used to roll his eyes at the poor coffee in these other places. This arrangement here with the breakfast at the next-door cafe is much more his style. We also used to go there most afternoons and after dinner, for a cup of something. The owners knew us and were always delightful, on one occasion bringing us a free plate of biscuits. It's heaving with locals, which of course is a good sign.
If you want to splash the cash, you might want somewhere a bit more luxurious than this convent; but if you are watching money, or if you just prefer the idea of a convent that is simple, but with every practical need looked after (security, cleanliness, location, shops, transport), along with delightful nuns and somehow a more "authentic" experience (whether you are catholic, or in any other way religious, or just an interested observer)- if this sounds like you, then this might well be the place for you.
Sabina - , United Kingdom (February 2015)
perfect quiet location, nice and friendly. great breakfast next door!
Irene - , Belgium (January 2015)
A very clean and sweet place to stay. The sisters are quite helpful, but their English is limited.
Michael - CA, United States (October 2014)
This facility was convienient to the Metro and the Vatican Museums, St Peters complex. It was convenient also to bus stops to connect to many parts of the city easily. We were pleased with the quiet building set back from the street and the sisters were very helpful. Breakfast was next door in a very nice small coffee bar. Breakfast was just cofffee and rolls, but sufficient to get our day started.
Ian - South Yorkshire, United Kingdom (September 2014)
Wonderful sisters run this place. Close to the Vatican and metro station Cipro. Basically no curfew as you get your set of door keys of front entrance. Wifi thru out the place. Breakfast served at the friendly cafe next to it. Safe area at night with good restaurants around.
Anthony - British Columbia, Canada (June 2014)
The sisters were so welcoming and kind. The cleanliness of the facility was absolutely superb, I have experienced less standards in 5* accommodation. I would certainly recommend the Villino Noel for convenience and high standard of cleanliness.
Mary - Tyrone, United Kingdom (April 2014)
It was very close to Vatican City, the Metro, and buses. Sisters were very friendly. Sr Lydia speaks English, but even those who did not were very helpful. Rooms were exceptionally clean, although plain and simple, but who stays in their room in Rome. Room temp adjustable and comfortable.
Deborah - IN, United States (November 2013)
We had a great stay at Villino Noel, it is a fabulous location.
Karen - Ontario, Canada (September 2013)
We enjoyed it a lot, very nice area with easy access. The nuns don't speak much English but we got along fine.
Annemarie - Gauteng, South Africa (June 2013)
The LAR145 guest house was wonderful, and the nuns were very sweet. The twin beds were rustic and the bed springs were noisy, but comfortable.
David - TX, United States (October 2012)
Had a wonderful stay at convent, clean, comfortable, friendly and exceeded our expectation.
Robert - New South Wales, Australia (October 2012)
We were a group of 13, and we really enjoyed our stay; the nuns were lovely, friendly and helpful, and it was a real treat to join them for Holy Mass each afternoon.
The rooms were fairly basic, but had everything you would need. Breakfast was at the nearby cafe, and good quality. Overall, good value-for-money accommodation with a bit of a difference. We would go again.
Martin - Herefordshire, United Kingdom (September 2012)
We had the most wonderful stay, fabulous welcome and hospitality was given to us.
Sheila - Merseyside, United Kingdom (September 2012)
It was an amazing location and stay! I love the fact that we had breakfast included!
THANK YOU!
Jenn - Alberta, Canada (July 2012)
The experience was once in a lifetime, and my husband and I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. Chapel on site and friendly service. Breakfast was simple, but exactly what we needed for a breakfast on the go.
Gabrielle - IL, United States (April 2012)
Wonderful location friendly nuns who went out of their way to help.
Gavan - Victoria, Australia (April 2012)
Very pleasant, central location would certainly recommend and would stay again.
Jennifer - , United Kingdom (April 2012)
We had a wonderful stay. Just one comment, there was a group of 10 of us, 3 of those traveling with me had to stay in the separate building from the main building. Would definitely stay there again, the sisters were so incredibly kind!
Andrea - MA, United States (April 2012)
It was quiet and comfortable, and felt very safe for leaving the car inside the gates. The Sisters were very good with recommendations. We liked having breakfast at the cafe next door to the convent, too.
Catherine M - TX, United States (March 2012)
We loved it! Only negative comment is that the mattresses on the bed were a bit lumpy/bumpy
Susan - Victoria, Australia (March 2012)
Excellent, warm, welcoming. The best set of windows. Appreciated the breakfast arrangements with the cafe next door. Bed was not as firm as others in our stay.
Elizabeth - South Australia, Australia (November 2011)
Absolutely wonderful experience! So thankful the sisters are there.
shawn - UT, United States (October 2011)
The Sisters were very welcoming but spoke little English. The rooms were on controlled air-con in a heat-wave, which was very difficult for me personally. The room heated up quickly and you wake up hot. Otherwise, lovely stay.
Michelle - South Australia, Australia (July 2011)
The AC is only available for 3 hours mid-afternoon and for 2 /2 hours in the evening. While the room was great and clean and otherwise comfortable.
Susan - OH, United States (June 2011)
We enjoyed our stay at the convent. It was our first experience in Italy and Rome and a very good way to start our Italian vacation travels. The sisters were very friendly and helpful. It added enormously to our religious experience of visiting Rome. It was by far the most appropriate place for us to stay.
Paul - Ontario, Canada (May 2011)
Within walking distance to transportation and major attractions, restaurants and pharmacy. Very clean and quiet. Friendly attention by the nuns. Breakfast included was enough for the morning.
Juan - FL, United States (April 2011)
Simple but very clean. The nuns came in and cleaned and mopped our room every day. We felt safe and secure. We had a beautiful private court yard for guests, away from traffic and street noises. It was hard to believe we were in the middle of one of the worlds largest cities. It was so tranquil. I can't think of anything we were not happy with.
Carol - MI, United States (September 2010)
The French nuns in Rome were charming and the location was ideal for us Very clean, simple, en suite room. Charming hosts, nice courtyard space outside to have a cool drink in at eventide; good breakfast arrangement with cafe next door.
Jean - West Sussex, United Kingdom (June 2010)
The friendly atmosphere. The room was quiet, so I could sleep very well. I arrived late in the night and it was a little difficult to see the button on the gate to press and get in.
Sirkku R - Finland, Finland (March 2010)
Matched my expectations; it was chosen because the group wanted no curfew. It had a small courtyard garden, which was a plus, as this was not clear from the photos. We were given a token for breakfast at a nearby cafe; The room was small but of a comparable size to that of the room of a friend, who was staying in a hotel and paying much more for it.
CATHY - Kent, United Kingdom (October 2009)
I expected clean, quiet and in a good location. The location to the Vatican was great. I was not prepared for the air-conditioning to shut off in the middle of the night. (Only A/C from about 10pm till 2am or so.) Yes I would recommend it but after telling them about the A/C.
Glenna - FL, United States (May 2009)
Easy access to sights of Rome. Friendly and helpful staff.
Comfortable room with all the facilities we needed.
Maureen - Fife, United Kingdom (May 2009)
Peaceful and clean. Well situated. Nuns were friendly and helpful. We would have preferred to have breakfast where we were staying.
Gill - Devon, United Kingdom (October 2008)
The location turned out to be wonderful. It was very close to the Vatican and each day there was an incredible open market that stretched for blocks just outside the monastery walls. The nuns were so hospitable and helpful, the courtyard was perfect for lunches purchased at the market and we felt very secure with the gated entrance. Everything was perfect - no complaints.
Barry - CA, United States (October 2007)
All of the sisters were very friendly and offered assistance. It was close to the Vatican and easy to find my way back to.
