House of the Societa Salesiana di San Giovanni Bosco (Salesiani)

This large monastery is a great place to stay just outside of Naples. It provides a perfect place to experience so many of the attractions Campania has to offer, all from a beautiful lodging with fine hospitality.

From the lodging, it is only a short trip to the ruins of Pompeii, as well as major towns in the area such as Positano and Sorrento and great sites such as Mount Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri. It is possible to reach Capri by ferry from Sorrento.

This monastery is operated by the Societa Salesiana di San Giovanni Bosco (Salesiani).

The position of the lodging lends itself to glorious views over the Gulf of Naples, or over the lush Faito Valley and surrounding mountains. Apart from the lovely gardens where guests can relax in the afternoon sun, there is also an area outdoor for soccer. A games room is also available for use to all guests.

The staff at the lodging are more than happy to organise hiking trips through the mountains and nearby valley for guests (there are hiking trails that run very close to the accommodation). There is also a playground at the monastery for children to use.

The dining room and coffee room make for ideal places to relax indoors, while enjoying a fresh Italian meal and a drink.

Getting Around

Located on the Sorrentine Peninsula, in a fantastic tourist spot, this monastery offers wonderful accommodation close to many of southern Italy's finest attractions. The lodging sits atop a large hill overlooking the centre of Vico Equense, surrounded by olive and orange trees. There are public transport links nearby, making tourist destinations accessible to those without a car.
