This ancient monastery full of history is a perfect Monastery Stay for those who wish to experience one of the sacred pilgrimage sites in Italy.

The accommodation is adjacent to one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Italy, Il Santuario Basilica del Pettoruto. It was said that in this are a deaf and dumb boy found a statue of the Virgin Mary and subsequently regained his hearing and voice. The original Basilica dates back to the 13th century however the accommodation building was recently built in 1984. The complex received its Basilica status from Pope John Paul II in 1979.

The lovely, natural surroundings of the monastery provide an opportunity to completely unwind and relax while you stay here, taking in the nice views from your room window or from the courtyard outside.

Getting Around

The monastery is located in San Sosti, which is in Northern Calabria. It is approximately fifty kilometres north of Cosenza. It is better suited to those who are driving due to the lack of public transport that services the area. The monastery in nestled in the mountains of the Parco Nazionale del Pollino, the largest protected area in Italy. When standing in the square, it is possible to see down to the Ionio sea.
