Whether staying in the city for a vacation or for a spiritual pilgrimage to the mountain, this monastery offers the perfect stay for all needs.The town of Varese is one of the most important in northern Italy due to the Sacred Mountain of Varese, which is part of the Sacred Mountains of Piemonte and Lombardia, a famous pilgrimage trail. The Sacred Mountains of Piemonte and Lombardia are World Heritage listed, with each of the nine mountains having a church at the top. The church on the mountain in Varese was built in the late 16th century, and is dedicated to the mystery of the Rosary. There are a total of 14 chapels on and around the mountain, leading pilgrims along a track to see each of them. Walking the trail to see the chapels is nothing short of spectacular. It is a spiritual experience that is well worth the visit to the city. Varese is also close to Lake Varese, which is another stunning natural sight of the town. Combined with the mountains and rivers in and around Varese, and this area is easily one of the most beautiful natural environments Italy has to offer. The scenery in Varese is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Milan, however the city is still easily accessible in less than an hour, meaning guests staying here have the best of both worlds when it comes to exploring what the country has to offer. Switzerland is also a stone's throw away, so day trips across the border are also possible.
