Fantastic location in a wonderful city, this monastery provides a place to stay where you can take in the rich culture and history of the area - a top choice for your Monastery Stay to Basilicata.

Being close to the waters of the Gulf of Taranto, day trips to the beach are possible and a relaxing way to spend some time in the area. Just outside the town you can take a trip to the ruins of Heraclea, an ancient Greek settlement, and a museum detailing the history of Heraclea can be found in the city of Policoro, and is well worth a look.

We had one evening meal in the centre, which was very good. We were somewhat constrained by our lack of Italian and the staff's lack of English, but they were very helpful and welcoming.

The monastery is in Policoro, and is in a wonderful location to experience the best of a small Italian town near the south coast. Public transport links are present nearby to make getting around a breeze. Only 60 kms away from Matera and the surrounding mountains.

	The staff were pleasant and helpful. The pastor speaks French so I could converse with him. The region offers a number of interesting areas to visit. WiFi service was spotty.
