The town of Bettona is quite important in terms of Italy's history. It still maintains medieval walls all the way around its center with certain parts still originals erected by the Etruscans many centuries ago. The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore lies in the center of the city and is well worth a look for enthusiasts of Gothic architecture. There is also a church dedicated to patron saint Crispolto, which houses his body and was erected after his death in the 8th century.
