House of the Suore di Santa Brigida di Svezia
Casa di Santa Brigida has traditional but welcoming environment awaiting guests upon arrival. Assisi's main attractions are within walking distance, with the Saint Chiara Basilica only minutes away by foot.The convent is a short walk to the Basilica di Santa Chiara, which is the second most visited basilica in Assisi, after the World Heritage listed Basilica of Saint Francis. The Saint Francis Basilica was built after his canonization in 1228, and completed in 1253. The lower church hosts frescoes by renowned late-medieval artists Cimabue and Giotto. In the upper church there are frescoes of scenes in the life of Saint Francis previously ascribed to Giotto and now thought to be by artists of the circle of Pietro Cavallini of Rome. The Basilica was restored after being badly damaged in 1997 when an earthquake hit the town.
