History

The foundation date of the Convent indicated between 1627 and 1628; however, some documents date it back to 1624. The first stone of the convent, built by the will of Msgr. Nicolò Antonio Spinelli, bishop of the diocese of Alessano from 1612 to 1634, and according to some sources named after S. Giuseppe Patriarca, was officially placed on 19 August 1628. The church dedicated to S. Maria degli Angeli was consecrated in 1656.
