In a beautiful location in the small town of Vicovaro, this monastery offers a wonderful stay. There are public transport links close by to help you get around. Best accessed with personal transport.

General Transport

History

The site of the monastery has been occupied for millennia by priests. St Benedict even lived for several years in the grotto on the monastery premises and the grotto is now aÂ sacred site for many pilgrims. The river that adjoins the monastery was diverted in ancient RomeÂ into tunnels which went all the way to the city. The tunnelsÂ have since been restored by volunteers.
