Can you tell me availability?
Many people ask about the availability of rooms at monasteries. Exact information about room availability is not available without first contacting each monastery.
Monasteries are not plugged into on-line reservation systems, in many cases preferring a diary and pencil, they each have their 'house policies' but they are thorough - and so this is where Monastery Stays comes in!
Monastery Stays has used its booking database so we can flag the probability of being able to book a monastery on the dates you want.
From any Monastery Page, start the process by selecting your dates and 'clicking', Add to Plan
You will be taken to the My Travel Plan screen where you will see the chosen monastery and the dates for that group.
Look for these flags clearly alongside each preference on the My Travel Plan screen.
 | Above average chance of making a booking: Our systems are telling us we have good outcomes booking this monastery at this specific time. Every chance of making a booking. |
 | Average chance of making a booking: We get clients in a high percentage of the time, but sometimes we don't, may depend on your room combination versus what is available when we start working with that preference. Plan early! |
 | Below average chance of making a booking: Our experience suggests we will be lucky to make a booking when this flag is showing. Plan ahead!

Monastery Stays works regularly with the monasteries and convent guest houses listed, booking a diverse range of rooms and family combinations, which means we have a gauge of availability, but it varies daily by room type and factors outside of our control (eg. other bookings at the venue, groups, festivals etc).
We can not definitely know availability for you until we actually contact the monastery with the booking request. That is why we guide you with these 'availability flags' and ask for a working list of lodgings arranged in your preference order.
We work for you, when you are ready to book with the exact request of your - My Travel Plan. We will work from preference one, in the order you specify, until we confirm the first available preference from your Travel Plan.
Please remember, these indicators are dynamic.
They change daily as our information bank expands into the future.
A plan with all red flags should be avoided - we are going to be working and failing you. A combination of any of the above flags is to be expected so remember the primary rules are:
| 1 | Book as far in advance as possible, especially for bookings requiring more than one room. |
| 2 | Watch out for popular weeks (Easter), weekends (Liberation day in April/May) and months (August when everybody in Italy goes on holiday). |
| 3 | Submit plans with a minimum of 5 preferences in Rome, Venice and Florence for all dates.
