Monastery Stays & Convent Accommodation in Italy what is it all about?
A stay in a monastery or convent in Italy is a chance to experience Italy

Staying in a convent or monastery is a unique and inspirational cultural experience now open to all.

The defining element of a 'real monastery' or 'real convent' is that it is operated by monks or nuns. They may not always be visible and also employ lay people to assist travellers, but rest assured all the genuine monastery and convent accommodation accessible on www.monasterystays.com is still connected to the order that operates the lodgings.

This is not 'convent hotel' or 'monastery hotel' accommodation - this is the real thing. A 'convent hotel' is an old convent converted and operated privately for shareholder profit. Unlike a 'convent hotel', the monastery and convent accommodation we make accessible to you is genuine - warm hospitality from the order that hosts you, an age old tradition and the monastery or convent room rate goes into their charitable and good works in the world - now that is responsible tourism!

Monastery Stays - real people, bringing an old story to life for you
You don't need a hotel, you need a convent or monastery stay
for the opportunity to truely experience Italy.

Monastery Stays is a worldwide web based booking service for monastery and convent accommodation in Italy. Commenced in 2005 and launched and operated in 2006 by a group of four friends all who had the experience of visiting Italy and enjoyed the experience at various depths of staying in monasteries and convents.

Monastery and convent accommodation in Italy is available for all to enjoy. Visiting a monastery or convent may begin as a stopover, but one cannot ignore the presence of peace in these places and its associated 'wellness'. It is a place for restoration of the body with a good nights sleep but also for the inner self an experience that you will not find in Europe's best 'Resort, Spa & Wellness Centre'.

The team at Monastery Stays solved the problems they personally encountered in dealing with monastery and convent accommodation in Italy - where are they... what are the up to date prices... what is the deposit... how do I get it to the monastery or convent on time and receive a receipt... how do I know that I will have a reservation on arrival... how will I receive a confirmation... is one sent... the monastery or convent is not on email... the phone number has changed... where do I find a monastery or convent in certain areas... what is the curfew... is there a lift for disabled access... is there parking on site... I don't speak Italian how do I make arrangements... what is the quality of accommodation... is there availability when I want to travel... will I have an ensuite or a private bathroom... is it possible to travel with a family... how do I find the monastery or convent once booked... how do I get from the airport in Rome to the monastery or convent...etc?

So was born Monastery Stays to centralise into one place answering all these questions and take the difficulties out of making a reservation at monastery and convent accommodation in Italy.

The leadership team involved with Monastery Stays - John Clayton, a practising marketing consultant, Angela Hoban, lawyer and her husband David Hoban, hospitality industry consultant and Mark Logan, who until 2006 spent many years in the City of London's financial and technology sector. All have been friends and work colleagues in their professional lives for 10 to 20 years.

We look forward to welcoming you to a Monastery Stay.
