This convent is operated by the Suore Canossiane.

An historic and well presented building with large open hallways, guest areas and cloistered courtyards create a peaceful space. Comfortable guest rooms over several floors with good facilities.

Breakfast is not included in the price. There is a small guest kitchen area. There are many dining options within walking distance of the venue.

Getting Around

On main island of Venice, Dorsoduro. A canal side 'Fondamenta' with easy access. Vaporetto stops for local and surrounding locations.  

History

A monastic building complex dating to 1694, the property has changed through many hands and performed various services for the community, before it came to be the home of the Canossiane Order from the late 1800's to today including complete restoration in 1999.

	Very quiet and charming location, and yet only a 20 minute walk to San Marco. Clean and comfortable, and very friendly staff. We have stayed in other areas of Venice, and we prefer this accommodation and hope to return!

	Truly a fantastic experience! My friends and I cannot wait to back. The location was superb, our rooms were huge, and they have everything down to a science. Although, unlike the other two monasteries we stayed in, there was no breakfast included, they offer a well-appointed kitchen for guest use; that actually worked out better- we could bring home leftovers and/or go to the grocery to pick up what we wanted for breakfast or snacks. All in all, it was one of the top stays on our trip, and we stayed in some pretty awesome places. Highly, highly recommended!

	The triple bed room was huge and had a lot of storage/closet space. The only problem with 3 women getting ready for the day, there was one bathroom sink mirror. It is difficult to fix your hair & makeup when someone is using the restroom. The courtyard is beautiful. The Sisters were very sweet. Cleanliness was very good. Overall, great experience!

	We had four wonderful nights at this monastery. The location in the Dorsoduro was excellent, easy to find, away from the tourist crowds but an easy walk to two vaporetto stops and the Accademia Bridge. The room was really large and we asked for a canal view, which was lovely but still quiet at night. The nuns were delightful and despite limited English language, we communicated well.

	Institute Canossiano San Trovaso is in an excellent location for everything we wanted to see and do and convenient to the train station. Dad really enjoyed the experience, which was a relief to me given it was his introduction to Europe.

	This is an overdue review, but I always wanted to give a review. I really enjoyed staying at Istituto Canossiano San Trovaso eventhough it was only for a short time. The staff in the office was really nice, took extra mile to help us figuring out the transportation to go to the airport very early in the morning. He made an arrangement for me and my friend for the transport and how to open the emergency door. Highly appreciated. I likedthe room, especially the cleaness. I like the kitchen too. I like the quiteness but still offered the freedom and privacy. One thing I remembered well was the towel linen they provided in the room as a bath towel. It was a superb idea. I really liked it.

	The nuns spoke no English but they have two english speaking people in the office sometimes that helped to clear up anything. We tried to pay them for wifi, but they gave the money back. It was a very lovely place to stay. So quiet. We had a perfect stay here.

	This is a great place to stay in a lovely area of Venice. Very close to the Zaterre and the Academia bridge which gives access to the San Marco area. There are two Vapotetto stops within a few minutes walk. Our room was large with ensuite shower room and overlooked a nice courtyard. It was cleaned and towels changed daily. The convent is used as accommodation for students as well as tourists. It was very quiet at night so we had a great night's sleep after sight-seeing. Breakfast isn't included here but there is a kitchen for guests and several cafés and bars very nearby.

	The perfect stay for a solo female traveller. I felt very welcome and safe. The room was spotless, the perfect size for one person with all the facilities one could want. The location was perfect, a stones throw from lovely restaurants, bars and cafes. I would highly recommend especially for singles who want somewhere simple, clean, quiet and peaceful to rest their head after a long day of exploring the beautiful city. 	A lovely, peaceful convent in a great location: close to several vaporetto stops, a traghetto, and only a couple of minutes away from the Accademia. The nuns and staff were very helpful and welcoming, and my room and bathroom were perfectly clean, with a high ceilings and a big window overlooking the cloisters. Mattresses and pillows were quite hard, but this seems to be standard in this kind of accommodation, and certainly didn't affect my sleep. The availability of a kitchen for guests to use was an excellent extra, and while I didn't use it, tea and fresh coffee (with stovetop moka makers) seemed to be there for general use. The temperature was in the low 30s when I visited, and the pedestal fan supplied did keep the room reasonably cool, but any hotter and I suspect you'd be feeling the lack of air conditioning. Overall, I loved my stay here - coming back at the end of a hot, busy day felt like returning to a real oasis.

	Beautiful venue located just off the Academia bridge, very quiet at night for a wonderful nights sleep and wake to the sound of the church bells ringing across Venice. The rooms are of the highest quality and the beds very comfortable. From here you can easily walk to all the sites around Venice or catch the vaporetto for a couple of euro.

	The room was more modern and comfortable than I expected. Comfortable bed, recently remodeled bathroom and for the times I was in the room, the windows opened onto a beautiful courtyard. The location was very convenient to transportation. The fan provided in the room kept the temperature quite pleasant. Had it been hotter, the lack of air conditioning could have been uncomfortable. I will stay there again.
